Gallup Solar extends an invitation to all
area non-profit board members & staff to attend this series of webinar
trainings on Wednesdays, from September 7 to
November 16, from noon to 1 pm at the Work In
Beauty House 113 E. Logan, Gallup, NM
These
are paid for by Gallup Solar & are free to attend. Come on your lunch hour
with your lunch, we have hot water & tea.

trainings are conducted by the Alliance for Justice on "The
Essentials of Representing Non-profits and Foundations" and the
sessions for September are scheduled as follows:
9/21/2011: Week Three -
Foundation Funding of Advocacy
This session will discuss advocacy from a funder’s perspective. It begins
with a discussion of foundation support of advocacy, the practical and
political concerns of foundations, and the importance of supporting
advocacy. In addition, this session will discuss the legal rules
governing private and community foundation support for lobbying and
election-related advocacy, general support grants and project grants, and
will describe grant language that foundations can adopt to comply with
these rules.
9/28/2011: Week Four – Advocacy
by Nonprofits that Receive Federal Funds
This
session will describe the restrictions on the use of federal funds for
lobbying. It will provide an overview of various categories of federal
funding, discuss applicable sources of restrictions, define lobbying as
applied to federal grantees, and will provide practical suggestions for
adhering to the rules.
Gallup Solar supports property assessed clean energy (PACE) funding because it will help make renewable energy retrofits and improvements affordable for homeowners. Legislation is currently being considered in Congress that will affect whether or not programs can be implemented at the state level.
